Genius Hour Project Week Four
Welcome to Balls Falls
Todays hike was Balls Falls in Lincoln Ontario.
I was looking at the difficulty of the trail.
Here are the guidelines I was going off of:
I was looking at the difficulty of the trail.
Here are the guidelines I was going off of:
Terrain (the physical features of the trail)
Steepness (how many hills there were)
Base (mud, clay, rock, dirt, wood)
Accessibility (wheelchair, adults, children)
Each category will be rated on a scale 1-5 and Each trail will get an overall rating. The higher the rating on a scale of 1-5 the more difficult the trail. The lower number is wanted unless training for something or for pushing limits. Each trail is based on 9 different ratings totalling a score out of 45. 45 out of 45 being 100%.
We did the hike from the side trail in today.
Terrain: The terrain of this trail was on the more difficult side as there were many trees across the trail we needed to step over or go around.
Steepness:There were many steep hills, including the first hill to get to the main trail it was very steep. There were also a lot of mini hills within the trail and a large staircase near the falls.
Base: This trail was very muddy, as we went the day after very heavy rains.
Accessibility: This trail is accessible for older children that have experience hiking but it is not a good trail for young children or wheelchairs.

Hi Colleen! Your genius hour project and actual blog turned out awesome! I love that you had an organized way of judging the trails, and included so many photos and videos so we could see what each trail had to offer! Your reflections are really helpful, especially because there are so many good trails around here that now I can use your experience to help me when I decide to visit one! Thanks for sharing your experience :)
